In my process of scoring I tend to start a movie with 2 1/2 stars. In this way it can at the very least be 'middle of the road'. Over the course of the movie I think about things like plot and character development, then adding or subtracting the amount of star I think it merits. This movie is the first movie to actually rate a negative star rating. If it were possible to give it a negative score I would.

I have never seen the original and I'm guessing that this is a near frame for frame remake, so many of the scenes in this movie just don't work anymore. I found myself laughing at the ludicrous situations the girls found themselves trapped in; from the people who tried to leave, to the gratuitous nudity (that's right, a girl stops to take a shower only to be spied on by the menacing evil, who is looking up at her, yet has a much better view). There were times that I wished that it was a spoof, where I could have laughed at the comedy instead of the bad writing.

The plot is pathetic, and completely unbelievable. The characters two dimensional, yet does it matter? No, because it's a group of hot sorority girls, playing right into the stereotype that the only people who see movies like this are 22 year old males.

The direction is okay actually, although it plays way to much with the silly, tired, used, old, horror theme. Like trying to scare us with something that isn't behind the door. I hate it that I can say, "She's going to open that door and be scared by a coat" and be almost exactly right on. I was only wrong because I had forgotten the Christmas theme of the movie.

This is a movie that should never have been made, not once, let alone twice. Yet here it is. The least they could have done is had the girls in Fort Lauderdale on Spring break wearing nothing but skimpy bikini's so that all of us male pigs would have had a reason to stay seated in the theater (Yes that's sarcasm, nothing would have fixed this piece of tripe).

I recommend you use this DVD as a coaster to keep your drinks from leaving rings on your coffee table.
