Well this movie takes place where the last one ends. Once Daniel and Mr Mayagi return to california to find out that the aparment buliding they live in has been closed. Daniel then surpirses My Mayagi with a bonzai store. Daniel also brings up the tournament (they have instated a new rule that the previous winner has to only fight the championship). Mr Mayagi won't let Daniel fight because "karate is to defend honor not little plastic trophy". Little do they know that the cobra ki has been recuporating with a new fighter to take on daniel in the tournament. When the head of the cobra ki finds out that Daniel won't fight in the tournament he sends his cronies out to "convince" Daniel to fight. Everything from messing up the shop to nearly killing Daniel and his new girlfriend. Daniel then agrees to praticpate. A man who works for the cobra ki pretend to try to help Daniel ( because Mr Mayagi won't train daniel). Daniel later then learns the other guy is from the cobra ki and Mr Mayagi agrees to coach daniel for the fight At the tournament the fighter sent from the cobra ki makes it to the championship. He has instructions to gain a point lose a point and then get Daniel in sudden death. He does just that but in sudden death Daniel does a kata (I have competed in fighting tournaments try that in a real life tournament everything happens really quick and everyone will think your nuts.) and wins the tournament and becomes the first person to win the tournament twice.
