This film simply sets the standard for action/adventure and has hardly been approached since. It's not a heavy subject but it has all the elements of the genre.

Flynn is great, Rathbone menacing, de Havilland brave yet feminine. The film effortlessly moves from stories of challenge to the bonding of heroes to the evil plotting to the wonderfully-choreographed swashbucking. Well-shot in color, great contrasts between bright daylight and sword fights and shadows in dank castles. All for the bigger-than-life goals of true love and restoring the rightful heir to England's crown.

Elements of this movie are reflected and modified in countless others over the last 70 years, this one did a lot of things first - and yet with a magical lightness and representation of good feeling.

Errol Flynn was so good looking and so bad. This film is one of the most entertaining I have seen, although in my opinion Errol's best film was They Died With Their Boots On.

Saw this movie for free as a part of a local summer series of films shown outside. Didn't know what to expect, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
