One of a series of later 60s movies that emphasizes the "anti-establishment" perspective - a youngster might turn to counter-culture, a bored housewife to Valium, a successful businessman to theft and risk. Frankly, the cinematic production needs some further attention for me, it has none of the strong musical scoring that makes "Oceans 11" whimsical and the dated multi-split panel editing style just doesn't work.

Things get slightly interesting as McQueen enjoys his ill-gotten money, but they don't make the most sense, his lifestyle doesn't seem radically altered. Dunaway (as the insurance investigator) is a space-case, as she almost always is. Her character, however, is highly capable - if without scruples. The first hour can seem mostly like a set-up to get the protagonists together.

Since both Vicky and Crown are immoral and looking for "kicks" in their own way, the movie doesn't stand for anything - it lies around as a monument to boredom. A fascinating movie to get a look at perceptions in the US at the time.
