Well exocuted period peice of horror. While the movie does start a little slow, its a pretty entertaining thriller throughout. its not horror in a sense of frightening or shocking, but rather paranoia and axiety horror. mia farrow is pretty epic in this movie, she ranges from happy/sad/angry/anxious/annoyed/ect, a truely memorable performance. the supporting cast is also pretty good, but limited in characters(theres about 7 performers who have meaning in the plot and a continuary in the film, and everyone else is stand ins for the most part), but in context of the plot, it doesn't harm the film what so ever. the plot is basicly mia farrow moves into a aparetment with her husband, and gets drugged, then raped by a incubus. while she believes it to be a dream, events surrounding her tend to prove otherwise. polanski manages his actors, shots, lighting, and pretty much every aspect of the film to a professional level. this film is probably the best looking horror film made in the 60's, and it surpases most 70's horror flicks in terms of visual detail. there isnt any special effects or gore, most absurd stuff is either implied or off screen, but it adds to the realism to the flick i guess, i didnt really find myself bored after the rising point of the movie happens, so the majority of the movie is pretty entertaining in my opinion. 4.5/5, if the first twenty minutes went by faster, it would be a better movie.
