This movie could have been made with two human pilots crashed in the Himalayas during the cold war. It would have been cheaper to produce and that savings could have gone into the script supervisor's hands, thus creating a better drama. It was the sci-fi element that sold you wasn't it? Come on, tell the truth. (oh by the way, I already hold the copyright to the idea...back off)

A great movie on getting over prejudice, and becomeing friends with your enemy. It has been a long time since I have seen it, maybe it will come to DVD soon.

This movie is about two enemy fighter pilots who crash land on a barren planet and who are forced to work together in order to survive. Slowly earning one another's trust they become friends and learn more about each other's cultures and language, which depicts some humourous moments on screen. They eventually realise that they are more alike than they think. As the environment becomes harsher the harder it is to survive. Then the Drac pilot becomes pregnant and dies during child-birth, leaving Will Davidge (Quaid) alone to raise the child. Davidge forms a bond with the child and vows to fufil his promise to its parent and return the child to its home. The action starts off again when human scavengers who use Dracs as slaves capture the child and leave Will for dead. Davidge is rescued eventually by his own people who had previously presumed him dead. While recovering from his injuries, he comes under suspicion when he speaks the enemy alien language in his delirium. However he disobeys orders to go back to the planet, where he was marooned to rescue the child. After rescuing the child, it is with the help from his friends that he is able to free the rest of the slaves and return them to their home planet. Here he fufils his vow and initiates the child back into the Draculian society by reciting an oath in their language. A thought provoking science fiction film with good action sequences. It is quite humourous in parts, especially when the two pilots first meet each other and learn each other's language. Also some endearing moments between Davidge and the alien child he has raised as if it was his own. Dennis Quaid is in fine form and gives a great performance and range.
