An interesting, but, for me, an unsuccessful movie directed by Cukor (but probably best left as a Cole Porter musical).

A definite vehicle for Gene Kelly but a little unsatisfying in its story of three girls who have three diiferent stories of the amorous advances of their musical director. A lot is awfully predictable as the UK trial of a libel suit unfolds - two girls are nasty manipulators who paint two different stories (with a backdrop of a homeless man who carries a sign stating "what is the truth?"). Because of the stereotypical "catfight" scenario between Sybil and Angele, I start to lose interest before the final tale unfolds.

And as expected, Mitzi Gaynor, the girl with the "heart of gold" seems to really holds Kelly's affections - but the movie makes it all ambiguous. Sadly, the blame seems fixed on ALL of '"les girls" in the end
