Based off a novel by Michael Cricton, Timeline is about a group of archaeologists who have to travel back in time to France circa 1350 to their professor who ends up trapped in that period. Unfortunate for the team, they are traveling on the eve of a historic and bloody battle between the French and English at the Castle La Roque. But in order to get to that time period, they have to talk with the people of ITC who inadvertently opened a wormhole, to get them to rescue their professor. Once in 1350 France, things start to go wrong. The team gets ambushed, and the time machine breaks in series of unfortunate events. Bad goes to worse as the team is captured by the English and are imprisoned. Not to mention that one of the English warriors was a former member of ITC who can't return to his time due to complications with the machine. So in a race against time, the machine is being fixed, while the team tries to escape not only the English, but also to elude the French, and the upcoming battle.

With all that's going on in Timeline, you'd think it'd be an equally good movie. But unfortunately, Timeline does suffer from some poor story telling in that everything just seems to happen. What I mean by this, is that at the start, when the team first arrives, they arrive with an escort of ITC members who all conveniently perish, and one of them decides to take out a grenade, right when he teleports back to the present, which conveniently destroys the machine. How convenient. There are a couple of other conveniences like that, but what keeps this movie from moving above a decent flick, which it is, is the performances. There are no break out performances and on a whole the acting is pretty average, although it does go below that average line on a couple of occasions. As for the action, it's pretty good, but not good enough to carry the movie.

Overall, Timeline is a decent film with pretty good action hemmed down by an average cast. If you're looking for a good adventure movie, then Timeline is worth a look, although there are most likely better movies out there.

A pretty good movie with a good story and good action. The actors ruined many parts of the movie because they weren't very good, but some of them did well. It was a pretty good movie and I'll watch it again, but it's nothing amazing.

An ok movie with an ok story that is ok noth the best time travel movie but an ok one my rating is 3 Stars.

The movie was not that bad. The writers took to much creative license with the screen play. The book was much better.
