Could be the equivalent of a Disney Classic, but designed for Eastern culture. However, more complex political and social issues abound making it suitable for a more mature audience.

Shoot Bambi's mother as many times as you like and I wouldn't so much as bat an eyelid. Watching the climax of this film however (or for that matter hearing that Ray Charles number) makes me weep profusely. That is despite me being an otherwise...

A simply stunning film.
A superb remake of Fritz Lang's original film, with beautiful animation, a good story, a great soundtrack. wonderful characters, and a tear jerking finale.
Recommended for all anime fans.
