There are parts of this movie that are very funny. Steve G does a good job of playing the semi-straight guy surrounded by a troupe of zany and unusual characters, ala Animal House, Stripes, Summer School, etc. Thank the comedy gods that there are not more plot orientations or we might actually have to explain new processes.
The acting is actually above par for a comedy of this caliber, this is after all slapstick, you don't usually get the Kim Cattrall's for such nonsensical whimsy.
This was Hugh Wilson's directorial debut and one of the best works his done in his career.
The story is pretty typical: Band of misfits trying to develop into something that in real life they would never become, with the ragtag leading misfit that will help they achieve their dreams.
See this movie, it's a cult classic, for the mildly outrageous scenes, as well as the fact that it is pretty funny.
