Francis Sullivan (Ed Burns) is a reformed New York City tough guy who no longer causes trouble. He was set straight when his younger brother, Sean (Elijah Wood), was murdered by a thug trying to kill Francis. Sean, though, may not actually be dead, and people report seeing him alive after his reported demise. Rosario Dawson co-stars as Sean's wife, while Oliver Platt plays a gangster out for revenge.
