Full Metal Jacket has become synonymous with the word "classic," it deserves it. The camera angles, the music, the characters, and the infamous "sucky-sucky/me love you long time" scene make its dwindling (after the first act) plot. I'll say it again - the movie isn't as good after the recruitment act, and when you watch it you feel like after Pyle is gone, the whole movie becomes less... engaging. If you're looking for a war satire, with themes that transcend the time period it depicts, then you owe it to yourself. You will laugh, you will be thrilled, and you will be entertained (for the most part).

If you still don't think that Stanley Kubrick is among the greatest directors of all time, I command you to go see this and say that again. It 's amazing how gracefully this movie has aged.

There are a couple of movies that competes about being the best vietnam movie, they are: Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Deer Hunter and Full Metal Jacket. Stanley Kubricks film is wonderful, he is one of the best, if not the best director of all time. Full Metal Jacket has two parts: The first is in the training place, and that part is hilarious, but allso serious. The second part of the movie is about the same soldiers, but in the war. I prefer the first, only that one would have gotten another half star, but the second part of the movie makes the rating a little lower, still it´s a great movie.

This is clearly one of the best war films ever made, if not the best made. A gripping tale of war from start to finish. Watching a soldier's life from training to his fight in the Vietnam war. Stanley Kubrick truly created a classic. This film is about JT "Joker" Davis, who begins basic squad training during the Vietnam War. In the first stage of this film, Joker trains with all of the others in vigorous challenges, and has to deal with a hard as nails Drill Sergeant, and a psychotic Pvt. Pyle. The second part revolves around Joker being a correspondent, and lastly, the third part is the battle itself, with Davis fighting for his life. This film has a great cast of characters, whom you will all grow to like (*ahem* don't get too attached). Music was wonderful, and the war could defiantly be felt in this films great atmosphere. Acting was top notch, and Kubrick's war film truly is a classic. Any war buff most likely saw this, but any one who likes a good war drama with a nice splash of comedy, this is a must watch. 5/5 stars.

Very funny first half. As soon as they go to war though this film sucks, just your average squadies sqauring up against each other and trying to shoot koreans. If you have a mate with the DVD then it's worth borrowing to watch the first half, but...

While I'm not a fan of Stanley Kubrick or war films, I thought that "Full Metal Jacket" was really well made. The story captured my attention and the acting was top notch.
