This was a masterpiece of a movie. The actors are all superlative and Robin Williams totally deserved that Oscar. But I thought Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan hawke deliver superb performances too. I was also very impressed by the Cinematography. Some of the shots are just magnificent. The Director, too, has done a great job. The handling of the film is very sensitive and unfolds beautifully.

This is one of the best coming of age movies. It might at first feel like the usual teacher who turns the students into a new leaf movie though its more than that. It also poses itself as a feel good movie but it isn't.

This is one of the best coming of age movies. It might at first feel like the usual teacher who turns the students into a new leaf movie though its more than that. It also poses itself as a feel good movie but it isn't.

The movie is about a poetry teacher and his students. The teacher inspires the students to break the shackles and to think beyond school and society. Robin Williams does what I think is the best role in his entire career. One of the earlier films in Ethan Hawke's career, quite a strong role too. The acting in the movie is very natural. The movie is visually superb like all other Weir movies. The mountains, the birds, the mist, the music bring out the real poetry in the movie. This movie is highly recomended to true cinema lovers.
