Mockingbird Don't Sing (based on a true story) is about a girl who is a "wild child." From the time she was a baby, Katie was held captive in her room by her psychotic father and has never been taught to talk, walk, or function as a normal human being. Caring Sandra Tannen attempts to help Katie become a functioning child, but it seems there is no use. After being transferred through several abusive foster households, Katie cannot seem to do much in the way of anything. Despite Sandra's struggling, it seems that Katie will never develop much more and is doomed to live to live the rest of her life that way.
