As a fan of the 1st film, I found no need for the 2nd and that the elements of this film didn't add much. Speed did not lend itself to being a franchise, it was just a good, fun summer movie, and if they couldn't bring both the male and female leads back from 1st, they should not have attempted new chemistry with the 2nd. Ok movie, but not good enough.

I'm really am surprsie the not alot of people like this movie. It had a good action and a good storyline. I do however agree that it's not better then the first Speed movie. I really enjoy watching it. I give it 4 stars.

More hard evidence that sequels are a waste of time. There are certain requirements of good, original-sequel film making. 1. The idea, no matter how contrite, used, old, or cliche, must include something new. That something new could be a simple twist in the general plot, a new way of approaching the characters, or even better scenery. Did this movie follow this rule; No, in fact it is a terrible rehash of the first. It would have been more clever if Sandra Bullock hadn't been in it at all, then at least they could have called it something else and that would have given it something new. 2. Characters need to evolve. Did this movie do that? No, of course not. None of the characters are even worth knowing. In fact it's pathetic, because they simply go through the exact same motions they went through in the first movie, right down to the rich guy getting his boat destroyed (instead of his car this time). It's the bloody same guy even! You'd think his character would be carrying a firearm or taken karate or something after what happened to him in the first movie. And finally, 3. There needs to be a theme. Since the first movie could be theme-less, this time around, and any subsequent times afterward, the plot has to be driven by a point. It is imperative to we the audience that there be reason behind the second telling of these characters. It's the reason why Star Wars does so well. Because underneath all the fancy special effects there is a point. Be it small, like eat your vegetables or large like never harm someone, it has to be there. Did this movie have a theme: Yes, but it was the same as the first, which was basically two fold: "Love is possible anywhere" and "never get mixed up with crazy people who think they should be rich because they are crazy and have no concept of what it is like to work within the framework of decent society".

Is this a date movie? I suppose, because it has elements of romance, but if you're date hasn't seen the first one... then rent it.

The movie is a great but still not like the 1st one it is about the same as the frist one i like the story a little bit better but the movie hurt it self because revees in it my rating is 4 stars.
