This film is a satire on the flase pomp and circumstance of beauty pageants. The story tells of a local business exec (played by Mr. Bruce Dern) as he tries to obtain funds and publicity for a popular local beauty pageant. And the antics of several contestants (including Ms. Annette O'Toole and Ms. Melanie Griffith in her first movie role), as they try to win the pageant by unsavory means.
