This movie was very good-looking and compelling, albeit a bit long. The actors all did terrific jobs, and the setting was very skillfully displayed as authentic 19th century New York. The plot was so compelling, that you might almost think that the film was based on actual events. The fight scenes were gritty and realistic, and the final 20 minutes left me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommneded

4 stars.

I have had some problems liking a few of Leo's pictures, so I didn't know if I would care to much for this picture. I have been wrong before.

You know what they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.All the actors did fantastic!!

The action was fabulous! It was so realistic, the fighting and killing each other. WOW! I also enjoyed the history, learning about the turmoil that was going. Towards the end they showed the cemetery over time, and I hate it that we, individuals, forget about how we got here.

I really enjoyed this film. It's a great story that's brought to life by an amazing cast.
It's full of drama as well as action and a little romance. It's so packed that there's something for everyone to like.

I really enjoyed this movie. It had a lot of history that showed the turmoil that was endured before America could be born. Daniel Day Lewis was awesome, I was rooting for him and the good guys. While I am a huge fan of Leonardo DiCaprio, I was somewhat disappointed by parts of his performance. Cameron Diaz wasn't very good either. Someone else would have been better suited for the role. I can actually picture Jennifer Connelly in the role. The film was filled with action and suspense and it makes for an excellent film that I call a classic.

I respect Scorsese but this is his worst work (altough I haven't seen The Aviator), the plot is boring and pass from a scene to the next without continuity, the reactions of the characters are without sense, the scenography seems like 'false'. Di Caprio has given us better interpretations (Catch me if you can, Romeo + Juliet and the recent Blood Diamond) and he's proud of this film! Why?
I understand why Scorsese and this film haven't won the Oscar, no-one sane would give to this film a prize, what I can't understand it's why it was nomined. Don't let yourself be tricked by spot, don't watch this film. Or watch it if you want a reason to suicide.
