After being taken hostage by an IRA soldier named Fergus, a British soldier quickly strikes a friendship with one of his captors, and tells him about his girlfriend named Dil, who lives in London. The British soldier makes Fergus promise him that if his captors execute him, that he would go to London and tell his girlfriend what happened to him. When the planned execution goes awry, Fergus flees the scene and heads to London to seek out Dil. Just as Fergus begins setting his life straight, with a new job, and a budding relationship with Dil, the IRA finds him, and Fergus must hide his past with the IRA from Dil, who has a few secrets of her own.
