I saw this movie at a prescreening and it was a better movie. It had more inner dialog, more depth, more emotion. The character played by Tate Donovan actually had purpose and meaning. But, it looks like a lot of people put down, "MORE SANDRA!" on their opinion cards and the producers listened, cutting most of the depth out of the movie to increase the other character involvement.
What you get instead of an interesting Romantic Comedy about a guy and a girl finding each other, is a typical silly comedy with predictable transparent characters from the lead roles to the supporting cast.
The Direction is almost non existent, the acting bordering on the malignant.
The basic story is that chemists, played by our lead roles, discover a potion that makes people fall instantly in love with the speaker, beyond that you can imagine what happens: others find out and proceed to use the potion to manipulate everyone and anyone they can.
Not cute enough to recommend to serious couples and as for a 'first date' movie, there isn't enough romance to make it interesting, which I guess could be a good thing, more time for other...um...things.
