I loved it. The way the directer interpreted Shakespeare to a younger and modern crowed was unbelievable. I absolutely loved that they kept the language in the same that Shakespeare wrote it, making it all that much better because it has the feel of Shakespeare. There is kind of a conflict between what you're hearing and what you're seeing that makes you interested and curious as to what is going on. It almost sort of fades away after the second time you watch it because you know the story and what's going on and how it ends so you're basically watching just for the visuals. That's why they needed to be off the charts and over the top with their acting and colors and visuals so that you know what part of the story your at and what's going on because you might not be able to understand the language. It is a movie for the eyes but for me I understood what was being said because if you just listen you can easily understand it. I am not a Shakespeare fan personally but I respect him as a legend because so many are influence by him and consider him to be, so he is. The directer seemed to be and through him I can see the brilliance in Shakespeare's work.

This is the worst movie I've ever seen.I was at Blockbuster's a few weeks back and this version of the movie was avalible.Now I'm currently watching this piece of abomination with my classmates.

Hideous. No other word can describe this 'attempt' at recreating Shakespeare's original work, which already has too many versions. The modern transformation - setting it in the current world, but with Shakespeare's language was atrocious. The use of guns, inscribed with 'short sword' still immensely irritates me. But then I loathe Baz Luhrmann and his style. This is no exception. And as for Leonardo diCaprio - he simply couldn't act at this stage of his 'career' if his life depended on it, which is a shame as he was great in Blood Diamond (2007) when he had matured more. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

We watched this in school, and i liked it straight away, i like the olde english with the upto date story, i also loved the fact that all of the guns were called swords, and rapiers, making it technically a sword fight with bullets! =) i quite liked the Romeo and Juliet story anyway, then they brought it right upto date with this film and it is awesome!
