If a better total effort has ever gone into the making of a film, I must have missed it; every aspect of this movie features a team at the top of their, or anyone else's, game. Chinatown is the rare film that achieves excellence at every single level: script, direction, acting, cinematography, score, costuming and set decoration..hey, I could go on and on about this landmark achievement in film, but that would mean you're wasting time reading this instead of watching the movie....
