This may sound contrivercial but I actually like this film/sequel, I remember seeing as a kid and actually likeing it and I still like it just as much now. Yes, it doesn't surpass the original and it isn't perfect but from what it has and what it does I think it's a good sequel that deserves more credit.

Love the fact that it's written by one of my favorate comic book writers Frank Miller, the superhero Robocop fit like a glove for him. Yes, it's true that changes were made in his orignal script for the film for reasons unknown could be because of budgetary overruns, but that never hurt the film for me it still made it good. Though on a side note I have read the graphic novel on his original script, personaly I felt if the sticked to the orignal plan the film could of been even better and one of the greatest sequels ever (in my book anyway). Even love the fact the director of one of the greatest sequels ever "Empire Strikes Back" did this film so that's two more points.

My only problems with the film were these. One, just the concept of having a psychotic drug lord turned into Robocop 2 I felt was implasable and a bit out of wack. The psychitrist character that suggested it has to be one of the stupidest psychitrist's ever, I guess she was going for the Pavlov theory but I wonder if she took Nuke thinking it. Two, Robocop's humanity is never further explored in fact it's exed out in a couple of scenes of the first half which as we see are rushed. That sort of frustrated me because Robocop's human identity was part of what make's Robocop great.

But now down to the positives, I really liked the plot and subplot. The new villian the psychitic hippie drug lord Cain I thought was good played well by Tom Noonan, he's a creepy menicing villian. He has an unpredictable and ambitious nature about him, love that his villious goal isn't money so much but it's to make the world a better place his way but as we see his way is peverted and corrupt. He is very smart but he's also just insane. The right hand villan Hobs by Gabrel Damon is interesting since it's a kid, how the heck he could work for a drug organization beats me may'be he also took too much nuke, but like the fact he can shoot guns and swear which is unusal but interesting. As usual the OCP characters are beeing greedy selfish buttheads. And both Robocop and Anne Lewis are still themselves.

The film still has two of it's best qualities like the satrization on drug counter culture and enterprize that exists, monopolization, captalism, privatization, as well as the trouble with pasifism.

In one part of the film which was funny were the OCP employees were trying to reprogram Robocop and were complaining like whnny soccer moms about Robo being too violent and for him to be more friendly, they do just that and Robocop becomes like Duddly Do Right. I'll admit it was the most surreal but also funnest thing I've seen; one hillarous moment that made me laugh my head of was seeing Robo take is gun out when a guy is smoking and is deleberately missing till the cigarate falls from his mouth and Robo says, "Thank you for not smoking." yeah, I'd probably quit smoking for life after that. As we see OCP's results aren't pritty in fact don't work at all, violance isn't also the answer but sometimes it can't be helped.

The special effects are great, I love how they designed Robocop 2, I remember actually being a little scared of it when I was a kid that thing was a monster. From it's black color, it's head that is shaped like a gustopo Nazi helmet just to imposze more irony, it's capabilities, but most of all the fact it's almost indestructable. It was defenantly a worthy adversary for Robo because this was another machine against him that was his equal.

The action is very good, the film has one of my favoate one on one fights ever where Robo and Robo 2 have a rock em sock em match of their own, it was just wild and crazy fun. Even love the fact that the police were trying to gun down Robo 2, it sort of reminds me of how in the Godzilla films the army would always try to gun down the giant monsters with heavy firepower that is always ineffective.

So, Robocop 2 is a good sequel that has plenty of ammo.

an underrated film, personally after the success of the 1st film then this film was always going to have trouble being better, personally i think it is on par (equal level) with the 1st film and the story and characters are great
