Slacker: someone who shirks or avoids doing something, especially work.
This movie is aptly named, for with in moments of the opening credits, we are cast into a set of scenes that are both lazy and shirking in form.
In film school you argue: Is the acting the error of the actors, the director, or the editing. You fight this one everyday in some form. There is always, and I mean always, a need to argue this point.
Luckily, if this movie were to be screened in a film class, all would agree on the outcome. Everyone is at fault here. The direction leaving you wanting. The acting leaves you bored. The editing is almost taken chapter and verse from a text book.
The story, is a typical summer, love triangle gone terrible wrong, teen movie. But looking at the release date, they knew they had a flop and were trying to beat the rest to video.
There are much better movies for this sort of sad commentary on the youth of this culture, including American Pie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, etc.
Save 93 minutes, go outside, summer is coming.
