This movie means a lot to me because the events portrayed effected me personally. I can remember the day I saw the bodies of our soldiers being dragged through Mogadishu in the paper. I recently enlisted in the Armed Services and it sent my blood boiling. The graphically reenactment of the events of those days are recreated in the movie in great detail. This is one of those great movies that makes you proud to be an American. It further shows how strong Americans need to be in the face of adversary. The odds those men faced were oppressive that day and got worse when the President decided they no longer needed to be there in Somalia.

This movie wrenches my gut every time I watch it. I loved the ensemble cast with Josh Hartnett, Ewan MacGregor, Tom Sizemore, Sam Sheppard...just a really terrific cast. It makes me angry to know that Bill Clinton just left our boys to practically rot over there and they were there on humanitarian reasons...he was such a coward...don't get me wrong I don't want a cowboy in the Oval Office but I don't want a pantywaist either.

The shot with the helicopters over the ocean is just a beautiful shot, and one of the many enduring images from this movie that are etched into my head, and it's also a nice homage to Apocalypse Now.

Ridley Scott is indeed a very talented director and you can count on him to shake things up when it comes to movies and Black Hawk Down really shows how good of a director he is. Black Hawk Down is a fast paced non-stop war film that is bound to be another addition to the classic war film genre. The realistic violence is thrilling from start to finish and rarely hitches up on the non-important moments. The cast is very good, a lot of actors, whom you may not recognize by their name, but once you see their face, you'll realize, oh it's that guy! And the cast fits their roles very well. Of course, some of the character development takes a back seat to the action, but there is enough of it to sustain interest into the characters. However, you know that every soldier relies on a code: leave no man behind. The cinemotography is great and looks great, great, great. However, the best part about the movie is the sound. It's like the new age Apocolapyse Now when it comes to sound. In conclusion, Black Hawk Down is a truly outstanding film with great realism and great momentum.

I was never a fan of war movies, but I have to say that this movie is quickly becoming a classic to fans of the war genre. The movie was, pure and simple, a story about war and nothing else. That was why I really enjoyed it. Great acting all around.

The actors were all good except Josh Hartnett.
Eric Bana's always great, his role is small but he's got the best lines of the movie, and he's playing his role pretty well.

For an American production, I've been surprised to see they didn't waste this true story of Mogadishu, in memory of Delta Force members who fought in hell over there that day.
