"Impressive visuals are nothing when the film is completely devoid of charm."

'Sleepy Hollow' is an utterly charmless, visually-superb-yet-bland-and-lifeless-at-the-same-time horror film disguised as an excellently clever and artistically done crime/mystery film. The acting doesn't suit the film's overall style and leaves the film - and us - with no real distinctive style or purpose and the end result is an undeniably bland movie that's quite possibly the least interesting piece of work Tim Burton has ever been involved with.

Now I respect Tim Burton a lot. He is an interesting, talented director and his film 'Ed Wood' is one of my personal favorite movies and his more recent 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' is an exceedingly enjoyable, visually magnificent film, but I don't know what he was trying to accomplish here and I don't believe it would be wrong of me to say that it just didn't work. It's worth watching to make up your own mind about it, but I think the consensus is that it's a charmless film disguised as pure charm.

I never thank that Burton was a good director before this movie. Dark, just how i like it. Johny depp is excellent in his strange role and all the cast is great.

If there was ever a doubt to Tim Burton's genious all they need to do is watch this film. Until this film, the legend was just a joke told around Halloween time but this retelling is awsome. Burton's imagery and the need to cover Johnny Depp in as much blood as possible captures the audiance and doesn't let go until the slam shut ending. I love this film.

This movie was pretty good. The only thing that saved it was that it was completely different from the real story. I actually like this version better, although the Masbath kid really annoys me.
