This is such an interesting movie and it has all the post WWII fears and radiation and UFOs and ..............I can't believe I loved watching this and the Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkeys would havve me hiding and crying!

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this movie over the years. It is probably the first Sci Fi I ever saw and despite how old it is, I still rate it as one of the best. Before its time is an understatement. The DVDs have different covers to my VHS but until it wears out, I'm keeping it as it has much better art work on the cover. For 1951, I think they did a fantastic job on the spaceship and the robot. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour and see if your local video store has it for hire. That way you'll find out what "Gort! Klaatu barada niko!" means. :) You won't be sorry. You never know, it may help you if you play Trivial pursuit as I'm pretty sure the game has a question relating to this movie.

A true cultural classic film. Every true movie lover should see it at least once. Movie history.
