Dan Gallagher is a busy family man whose wife, Beth (Anne Archer), and daughter, Ellen, are out of town for the weekend. He heads to a business gathering and runs into an attractive associate named Alex (Glenn Close), who takes a liking to the married man. After a weekend of sultry passion and lust, Dan heads back home to meet his returning family. He thinks that the affair is over, but in Alex's mind, things have just begun.
