This movie starts off in a promising way, and then it just gets silly. The five-day camera thing is a little hard to take as it is. Then it turns into an excuse to ogle a woman in her house for ten minutes. We don't need for this movie to be so long. More than a half hour could have been cut by removing the close-ups of people crying, and allowing Washington and Kilmer's characters to actually develop instead of looking like cut-out t.v. movie posters. They try to mix too many elements, a detective story and a futuristic spy theme, sort of "Minority Report" with some syrupy love story elements, and it would have been much better had they just stuck with the police case. Like a Pullman car that's gone off track, there's only so far this film can try to push.

Though entertaining in parts, the story and the sci-fi elements are too clunky to make for a completely satisfying movie. The apparatus used to peer 4 days and 6 hours into the past was explained very briefly and not satisfactorily. It seemed to be an excuse to showcase some cool video and graphics effects instead of a believable futuristic technology.

The ending also left me flat. The time-traveling ATF agent Doug Carlin was killed while saving the passengers on the ferry but the "other" Carlin showed up at the end. We were supposed to feel some sort of relief that he survived, sort of, but there is no real emotional connection between Carlin and Claire Kuchever. This Carlin has never met Claire and he didn't go through all the suspense and danger that the other Carlin did. Why would he believe Claire's story once she tells it?

I'm not so sure Denzel Washington was the right actor for this movie. His charismatic, improvisatory delivery didn't fit the sci-fi story. On the other hand, relative newcomer Paula Patton did a fine job in a limited role. She is also a strikingly beautiful woman, which certainly doesn't hurt.

The movie can't overcome the absurdity of the time-traveling surveillance device. There's enough action and suspense to provide some visceral entertainment but the awkward use of the time-travel plot device ultimately makes this movie disappointing. Sorry Denzel fans but I've seen him do better.

One of my favorite movie,about the theory of time and space I go crazy and this film got me amazed,really it is cool the story is good,the actors are good,every thing about it is great.

Deja Vu is one of the best Denzels' movies so far. It's full of action, adventure and surprises.
Denzel Washington respresents an ATF agent (Doug Carlin) who has to discover who plant a bomb on a boat full of navy officers. To do this, he joins a group of scientists who have a machine that can show them what happened 4 days and 6 hours in the past, but only once. A key person in all, is a young woman who will help agent Carlin to find a terrorist and change a past before it's too late.

Deja Vu was a good movie that showed how technology could possibly change the world.

In this movie a ridiculous piece of electronic equipment is created that can change what happened in the past. Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) is an ATF agent who is told this machine can only see what happened exactly 4 days and 6 hours before.

While they are investigating a case agent Carlin discovers that what they do with this machine can actually change the past. Deja Vu is a good suspense/action/thriller that showcases the true power of electronic equipment (hypothetically speaking, of coarse).

Started of great as a suspense thriller than went down hill to sci-fi, and then ending was anti-climatic. It's as if I could see the future and tell my self how the movie would end.
