First of all, this is a guy movie for guys who like guy movies, filled with car chases, gun fire, explosions, and even a little gratuitous nudity. That being said, the rumor that Halle Berry got paid an extra half a million dollars to show her breasts almost makes you want to see it right there. But I digress. One of the best computer hackers in the world is out of prison, leaving him cut off from his daughter and very depressed. Enter John Travolta, a criminal living a criminal's high life from a pedestal. Needing a professional hacker, Travolta and Berry lure him to accept the job with the promise of enough money to afford the resources needed to get his daughter back. Little do they know, of course, the police are sniffing around trying to find out what they are up to. I forgot to mention that the movie starts near the beginning of the finale and flashes back a couple of days to catch the viewer up to speed before finishing the movie. While this technique is cool if done correctly, in this case, it starts the viewer off a little confused and by the time it ends back up where you started, a few minutes of the movie's opening scene are cut off and you've forgotten the details. Also, although it was explained what Travolta's motivation was for electronically stealing so much money, it wasn't explained very well and I never did understand exactly why he was doing it. But if you're a guy watching a guy movie, is this really important? I very much enjoyed Travolta's playing the confident villan, and it reminded me of his great performance in Face/Off. The movie starts with an explosion that signals the beginning of the finale, but you eventually realize that the best stunt was not revealed early, as you are left to guess for the first few scenes. The best stunt and explosions are left until the end with a little twist (misdirection) that I think was a refreshing change from the norm. In summary, this is a guy movie that John Travolta or Halle Berry fans should enjoy.
