He is given a chance to direct a big-budget Hollywood film starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sylvester Stallone, and Jackie Chan. But when the producers re-cut the film against his wishes, he wants to remove his name from the picture. However, the official name for directors who do not wish to put their names on films they wish to disown just happens to be "Alan Smithee." Left with no other choice, he decides to burn his own film to protect his own artistic integrity, and to save the world from a bad movie. "Great Cans. Great Movies."
