After some of the school's biggest losers and slackers (and one good student) are forced to serve detention after school, their assignment is to write a letter to the President telling him how the educational system could be improved upon. The smart girl is the only one who actually does the assignment, sending it to the President on behalf of the entire group. But to the dismay of the school's principal, the President invites these upstanding students to come for a visit and to speak on behalf of their peers.
