Cute - but not enough.
Some consider this Goldie Hawn at her best.
The acting is pretty good, but that ends its interest. The rest is predictable or outrageous but not so outrageous that it's clever (in the "Stripes" kind a way). No. In fact, at the expense of comedy, the development and rationale of the characters gets muddled, like the endless rains that poor Private Benjamin herself has to endure. There are better Hawn vehicles, from the romantic comedies with Chevy Chase, to the character driven Sugarland Express.
