Put a good cast of characters on a single tiny set and feed them good lines and you get a movie that's more watchable than a lot of sweeping epics of later times. I especially admire the writing here, more so than Hitchcock's direction, because it never seems forced but fills the time with interesting discussion.

One of the better uses of Tallulah Bankhead, her froggy nicotine-tinged voice is well-used as the imperious and wealthy international photographer who generally raises (but doesn't solve) every issue that's important to the group's survival. I enjoy Hume Cronyn and Bendix is serviceable here.

In some ways, this is a "minor" movie of the time, but it is still gripping in its situations and psychology.

Lifeboat is an extremely underrated Hitchcock gem. This film tells the story of a group of people stranded at sea together, struggling to survive. The situation they are in is an extremely believable one, which makes watching this movie all the more thrilling and suspenseful. All the actors in the movie are quite good, especially Tallulah Bankhead. The actors and actresses in this movie all play their characters extremely well, leaving you to believe that these characters are really fighting for their lives. I highly recommend this film if you enjoy suspenseful movies, or are a fan of Alfred Hitchcock.
