For Truman Burbank, life is normal. He gets up every morning, brushes his teeth, eats some breakfast, and goes off to work as an insurance salesman/adjuster. He's average. Normal. And yet, there is something wrong with him. Truman is, unbeknownst to himself, a T.V. star. For the past thirty years of his life, he has been living inside of a massive, dome-like soundstage in Burbank, California, designed to look like a coastal town, called Sea Haven, Florida. All around him are microcameras, watching him all he time. Every single person around him is an actor. He is the star of...The Truman Show. It's live to the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Truman is always under the risk of personal discovery-that his life is fake-that all subliminal and emotional attempts must be made to keep him in the town. Traffic jams keep him away from the walls of the stage. People who sneak onto the set to try and tell Truman the truth are escorted away by policemen. Erosion on the set itself, such as falling stage lights, are quickly explained away. The show itself has become so successful and popular that it has become a way of life for some, who go so far to even sleeping with The Truman Show on. The genius behind it, Christof, has a goal to always keep it going. Every day, he, like Truman, fits into his daily routine: cuing the sun and weather (another way to keep Truman from leaving town), teleprompting actors from offstage for encounters with the star, and watching over like God. He basically IS God. Some even question the position that Christof has: he is better than the best. However, the real question here is...can this go on forever? How long can it possibly last? How will it end?
