Criminal profiler and psychologist Dr Helen Hudson played by Sigourney Weaver lives in a world of her own. She used to be in the public eye all the time. Now for the past year she has taken to the life lived by agoraphobics. When several murders occure and the police can't figure out who is doing the murders they turn to Helen. Helen refuses to help them at first because she has given that life up. But her caregiver Andy played by John Rothman tells M.J. Monahan played by Holly Hunter and Reuben Goetz played by Dermot Mulroney to leave the pictures they have brought to show Helen and she may look at them later. Helen keeps in contact with the outside world via computers. She helps the 2 FBI agents as best she can from her home, her safehaven. She concludes that the killer is following a pattern of past serial killers. He is reinacting their murders.When the killer intrudes on her through the computer Helen is more than disturbed and puts all her efforts into finding out who it is. After several events occure Helen is forced to face her fears in order to survive.
