John Kimble is a tough city cop who's been on the trail of drug dealer named Cullen Crisp for years. He finally tracks Crisp down but it seems the only person that can testify against him is his ex-wife. Kimble must teach a kindergarten class, in which Cullen's son is in, in order to get to the mother. He plays a game with the class called "Who is your dad, and what does he do?" which doesn't work. He finally comes across Joyce Palmieri, who is really Rachel Crisp. She explains that she has been running from him with her son Dominick. Kimble says he will protect her from Cullen (but she doesn't know he is a cop). When Cullen is released from jail, Kimble tells Joyce that he is working undercover to find Cullen. She races home and hides with her son, he doesn't show up at all. But the next day, Cullen shows up at the school, sets it on fire, and kidnaps Dominick.........
