It is a normal night in Crystal Lake with Jason Voorhees on the hunt again, but this time the brutal killer is on the wrong end of an FBI sting. As he's about to kill a woman, the FBI springs a trap. After gunning him, they launch an explosive, and Jason gets blown to pieces. His grisly remains are sent to a morgue, where the coroner (Richard Gant) is hypnotized by Jason's beating black heart and begins to eat it. Somehow, this causes him to be possessed by the demonic spirit of Jason.

'Jason Goes to Hell - The Final Friday' is not a totally worthless film, but it is below-average at best. I bought it when I wasn't quite aware that the 'Friday the 13th' were among the lowest life forms as far as horror films are concerned, but it was relatively cheap so it wasn't a huge loss. The film itself is actually not that bad; it's gruesome, and the plot had potential and it was executed rather well - I found it very boring though, but it's definitely a better film than the majority of this franchise's films.

The first Friday the 13th under New Line Cinema, and they did a really good job at beating out Paramount's versions of the franchise. The story is alright, but it's a slasher film and you actually want a story line? 7/10.

Well who would have thought that the FRIDAY THE 13TH series would make it as far as it did? I mean this is the ninth entry in the series, the only movie series I know of that has more installments is Godzilla but then again, this is a slasher movie. JASON GOES TO HELL is "supposedly" the last in the series (even though it's not). Now that New Line Cinema bought the rights to Jason, it seems that this was the only thing they bought from Paramount because this film ignores the past few sequels and the story is different from the others, comes up short but give the filmmakers credit for trying to breathe new life into the series.

Now I viewed the director's cut of the film and boy, the gore factor is stacking like all of Jason's victims. This is by far the bloodiest out of all the FRIDAY THE 13TH films (the popped head death was my favorite) and many fans were pleased about this however, fans were also displeased with the fact that the hero of these films, Jason Voorhees, gets about 10 to 15 minutes of screen time which is a real shame because more of his presence was needed in this film. I was kind of disappointed with the film, the story and dialogue could have been better or better yet, more of the Creighton Duke character would have made this film more enjoyable (this character is as hammy as they get). Just okay to others, can’t miss collector's item for the fans. Proceed with caution.
