This movie was a much needed return to innocence for animated cartoons that was so desperately needed to make the animated movie a respectable genre again. After the success of "Fritz the Cat," animated movies floundered about desperately trying to break the bleakness the movie cast onto the animated world though none quite succeeded. The story is simple and sweet. The Care Bears are the the guardians who make sure that people's feelings are kept in balance because if the Earth were to become devoid of feelings, that would mean the end of Care-a-Lot and the Earth as we know. Too bad there exists an evil spirit that precisely wants this very thing and manipulates the emotions of a boy without any friends to achieve her evil ends. It's only by the courage and bravery of two orphan children named Kim and Jason that the Care Bears and their cousins are able to break the evil spirits spell and end her threat to the world and its feelings for good. This movie rightfully and deservingly started a decade long trend of animated movies smashing box-office records and ignited the way for animated movies to make a much needed come-back. For this reason, I salute the original "Care Bears Movie!"
