Dick Tracy isn´t a serious gangster movie. It´s based on a comic book, and the characters are probably kept exacly he same way, because they look like something from a kids movie. The main reason I got intrested in seeing this movie was Al Pacino, I´ll watch anything with him (With the exeption of Gigli). James Caan, Madonna (Who doesn´t realy give you higher expectations.
The thing is liked about Dick Tracy most was probably the cinematagrophy, it looks fantastic, it´s a smart way to keep that comic book feel. Pacino´s acting is superb, he portrays a mafia boss who´s main purpose is to kill Tracy. There is allso a little side story about the homeless boy who Tracy decides to take care of together with his girlfriend Tess. The directing was good, The set Dressing could have been better though. Some of the music sounds good as well, but when she stops singing and starts talking instead... It doesn´t work as well.
So is Dick Tracy a good movie? Yes, it is, it´s very close to a higher rating but I decided to give it 3 out of 5.
