I may be in the minority on this and what I'm about to say could be contrivercial but personally I like the remake of "The Blob" a lot more than the original don't get me wrong I do like the orginal but I don't love it. In fact I can't help but feel it's better, in a way this film isn't just a very good remake because it does everything right but it's a very good horror movie in general.

This film does a lot of great thing right for one thing the speical effects I personally think are great. The use of make up effects, stop motion, pupetering really make the blob a true menice to behold. I really like how they executed it making that evil Jello have almost a slight personality from how it moves down to it's creative kills whcih are strangely clever. And it really kills in the most grusome and gory ways, the gore effects are just excelent I won't give too much away from the first kill but one of them which is the daftest but most disgusting is the one where it pulls someone down the drain of a sink, I'm not kidding. And word of warning when watching this film do not eat or drink anything if you can't handle it.

Music score was very good all hit the right places. Even the writing was good since it was from the right highly talented people, director Chuck Russell (who did "The Mask" and "Eraser")and of course future directior of three excelent Steven King adaptations Frank Darabont, both just know how to do a horror film right.

One other thing are two of the leads played by Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith both do a good job. What I like about both the leads is that their both intelegent people, well rounded characters that actually do have depth which is rare in most horror movies (personally I'd like to see more of that) and there is good chemestry between the two. I find it a little ironic because in a way I was a little like Kevin Dillon's character an outsider myself in real life and even I was friends with a Cheerleader (3 of them to be exact, it was platonic honest) so this to me make me enfensize with the leads in the film. From all of that I actually found myself caring about both characters and did want them to survive and win against "The Blob"(let alone hook up in the end).

So overall I think this film is great and loads of fun that is unrelenting; and is one of my personal favorate horror films in both the monster sub catagory and horror in general. "The Blob (1988) is disgusting fun.
