Maybe Oliver Stones best movie ever. Platoon is one of the best war movies ever. It is a realistic portrayal of the vitnam war. Fantstic performances by Charlie Sheen, Tom Bergener, Willem Defoe, Forrest Whitaker as well as the amazing John C. McGinley as O´Neal, probably the character you care most about. Oliver Stone directed this himself, and the directing and cinematagrophy is fantastic. The one music score is great but you get a little tierd of it when it has been played a hundred times over again. But Platoon is a masterpiece and is in the league with movies like Apocalypse Now.

A brutal yet accurate portrait of war.
Oliver Stone's masterpiece "Platoon" is a crude and brutal portrayal of war with terrific performances from Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe and Charlie Sheen (in the role that must be remembered by Sheen fans), showing the transformation a lot of soldiers surely had during not only the Vietnam War, it was a transformation that has happened to anyone on a battlefield, where the first thing lost is innocence and the second is sanity. Stone gave one very personal direction that gives this film a feeling of reality incredibly, we're practically a part of the 2nd platoon. Simply a must to anyone that wants to see the reality of war without that usually useless damn patriotic gravy on it.
