Perp in store holdup waves gun at bystanders who lie on the floor scared to death. Rookie cop shoots perp dead. Deranged shopper pilfers perp's gun; slips out unnoticed; starts murder rampage; arranges romantic meetings with rookie cop. Bystanders and store
clerk can't recall perp having a weapon. Rookie's judgment is challenged. Lunatic places evidence tying murders to rookie. When questioned about new acquaintances she fails to mention romantic encounters. Career hanging in balance, rookie hand-cuffs chief detective for solo shot at arresting (decoy of) lunatic, nearly costing chief his life. Rookie resents her best friend's match-making efforts. Instead she falls in love with a lunatic and screws her detective chief a few days later. Lunatic shoots best friend and chief. Best friend dies. Rookie becomes superwoman to track and kill lunatic while bleeding enough to need an arm tourniquet. Chief survives.
