This mockumentary looks at a fading rock group called SPINAL TAP. Rob Reiner's directorial debut is arguably the funniest movie ever made. The plot is that Rob Reiner (Marty DiBergi) is an interviewer and is making a documentary about "one of Britains loudest bands" going on their final tour in America. Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer star as the members of Spinal Tap. They also wrote the film (along with Reiner). They all give hysterical performances in a film that's so realistic that many who viewed the premiere believed the group is real. Even rock band "Iron Maiden" stormed out of the British premiere, convinced they were the model for the group in the film. The movie is at a crisp 82 minutes, where by today's standards is around the halfway mark for a film. However, you will be quite pleased after you witness each and every scence (all of which are classic) from the sandwiches, to the amps that go to "11", to their album cover, to the 40 inch statue at the concert, to the countless drummers in the group, etc. etc. etc. No matter who you are, you should love this movie. You will be quoting lines from the film for weeks and I'm quite certain that it will be one of the funniest movies you will ever see.
