American Beauty was a very good film with many plot twists that will draw you in. This movie has a fantastic plot, and the actors do an even better job of making the story seem realistic.

This movie is about a family that appears to be happy, but is anything but. The husband and wife can no longer stand each other, and they both no longer have any relationship with their daughter. The father of the family decides to quit his job and live the life he's always wanted, smoking pot and working at a fast food restaurant.

This movie is very good, and if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.

It may happen minutes later, days later, maybe a whole month later, but when you think about the film again you will be overcome by a need to watch it again.

For whatever reason, the first time I saw this film in the cinema I wasn't particularly taken by it. I had no complaints but I walked out without really forming an opinion on it.
Fast forward 8 years to 2007, I decided to hire the DVD as part of my obsession on Wes Bentley. I was really impressed with this film on seeing it a second (and third) time. The story, acting and cinematography are superb. The film is richly layered with lots of subtle symbolism. All in all, it is a successful commentary on modern living and the duality of the human experience.
The DVD extras are also quite decent and even though I usually don't enjoy the commentary and interviews, I watchedthem all and found it gave great insight into the film. (That's the real official reason I watched it twice, honest)

Trust me on this one....you gotta see this movie if you haven't. The story line is near perfect and the characters are just outstanding. Just when you think you have figured out this movie something changes and throws you off again. The development of all the characters is just great from beginning to end. The cast of characters is great with the stunning Annette Bening and the flawless Kevin Spacey. I can't even believe my favorite actor Scott Bakula is in this movie too.
