I remember seeing this when I was about 12, I had a lot of fun with it back then and still have fun with it now. I may be in the minority on this but personally I feel this horror film is underrated.

There really isn't much I can say about this film other than it is simple stupid fun done right but most of all it's a good unorthadox horror film; it's obviously no masterpiece but who cares. Yeah, I know just like the original Steven King short story the plot is pritty ridiculous and far fetched. But that's part of what makes the film fun it's almost like in those 50's sci-fi/horror films where the danger always came from outer space or nukelar radiation, so the film doesn't take itself seriously.

What I like is that there are a varity of enimies that can kill the good guys. In most cleched slasher horror films the standard limit of monster slashers is on but in this there are lots of monsters that are everywhere and have different capabilities and I think that makes the film all the more thrilling and fun, I always like varity. Of course the most memorable death machine is the main villian the Green Goblin head truck, it was a great choice to use that "Spider Man" villian head design as the villain because it really conveyed a menicing presence and almost helped give the truck personality in a strange way. The film has some creative sometimes daft kills, my favorate kill no doubt is that infamious steamroler scene which I'll admit was risky but it worked. There is some gore in the film but not that much and that's fine by me. The action sequences are good, always love it whenever they use the rockets against the trucks and they blow the crap out of them, whenever that happened they always made a strange inhuman death cry as if those trucks were truely alive in a way, and I though that just made the kills a lot cooler in a strange way; and I always love horror film where protagonists can fight back instead of always runing and hiding which I never found fair most of the time.

The film also has one of the best soundtracks by my favorate rock band AC/DC. This film and an episode of "The Simpsons" got me into them. It's ironic I mentioned since Yeardley Smith the voice actress that plays Lisa Simpson is in the film. Her character it's true is a bit annoying but in a good way where it's funny especially when she says my favoate quote "Curtis are you dead?" that always cracked me up. Another good character is Emilio Estevez whom is awdsome in this film as Bubba a hard luck ex con that just wants to get his life back together and well he does that by playing the role of Truck/Machine slayer.

Well that's all I have to say, Maximum Overdrive is Maximum Fun.
