Semi-retired Martial Artist and Oregon welder, Alex Grady is a widowed father. Nursing an injured shoulder from a previous match he is picked for the United States National Karate team. He is joined by a Martail Arts instructor with a tragic past (Tommy Lee), a crass urban Cowboy (Travis) as well as a italian American and a Buddhist. They will be coached by Frank Kouzo, a veteran of the sport who is looking for redemption and a trainer with unorthodox methods, Catherine Wade. As these very different personalities clash over a training period of 3 months, they slowly rise above it all to build their spirits and bodies. They will need all the strength they can get as the path to victory means clashing with the fearsome Korean national team led by Dae Han. Do they have the character to fight and survive not only the coming finals, but their own pasts as well?
