This movie is exceptional. It depicts a man who goes through changes about racial tolerance while being in a sting in the big house. He was once a great leader of a white power group but now he has changed his ways but can he save his brother from a dark fate. I think this movie is fabulous , great acting and a great plot, life lessons galore , especially where it comes to race.

This is a truly important film that manages to shed light on some unpleasant facets of humanity, tell an uplifting story that ends in tragedy, and yet somehow also be immensely entertaining. This movie is the one that put Edward Norton on the map for me and a lot of the rest of the world due to his blisteringly honest portrayal of a racist who is an intellectually agile repudiation of society's stereotype. Edward Furlong is equally riveting in an important role as his little brother. Great for watching with a discussion group- the issues addressed here are real, and vital, especially today.

American History X is the story of a neo nazi skinhead who has a devout hatred for any kind of foreigner. He gets sent to prison after committing a hate crime to a black man and in prison he befriends more of his kind. He later learns that his views are wrong after he befriends a black man he works a prison towel job with and when he gets released, he finds out that his younger brother is following in his footsteps.

American History X is a very deep movie that deals with racism in a bold way. It's not afraid to just come out and deal with it like too many pop culture things are these days. Overall, it's a very good movie, one of my favorites

American History X is a masterpiece and a classic with a landmark performance from Edward Norton. This movie is full of anger, passion, intensity, tradgedy, hate, and revenge. It's one of those rare instances where the movie is perfect or at least very close to it. Never under-estimate Edward Norton.Much like the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan American History X will be a movie you will never forget.Probably the most realistic portrayal of racism other than Crash.This film is full of so much passion everyone is always angry and intense.The best thing is that each point the movie makes is valid and understandable whether it be coming from the "gangsta's" or the "neo Nazis's" the message is loud and clear.The characters are all again realistic to an extent.The films best quality is how it shows that one decision leads to consequence after consequence until it's too late to do anything to fix it.A very realistic portrayal of prison is only one of the disturbing sequences this film contains.Every death is brutal and difficult to watch as is the anal rape scene and the grocery store robbery.They all however are needed to be shown because without the unbearably brutal violence the message wouldn't hit as hard.The film is not slow paced as many may assume and that is why i prefer it to Crash.While Crash was brilliant American History X is more extreme and more true to real life and in my view more likely to hit home.Overall American History X is a timeless classic with a moving story about a character who you cannot stand becoming the character you root for after he realizes his mistakes.An enjoyable film that is definitely not for kids.

Edward Norton stars in a thought-provoking yet suspenseful film which tackles the issue of racism.This is a must see for anyone who enjoys thrillers or can bare the graphics scenes to which this movie displays
