No, the movie is not solely about the sex and drugs it is based on. Yes - Boogie Nights is everything a serious moviegoer is looking for in a film. At 2 and a half hours (give or take), Boogie Nights takes you on a trip you won't complain about. It gives you the drugs necessary to be set loose and party alongside its characters within its scenes of excess, then, when the drugs wear off, you stand still as the party's crashed for being too controversial. At this point, every character you've grown friendly with shows a side of themselves you didn't sign up to see. But you sit and listen, and they bare their souls.

When the event is done two and a half hours later, you watch as everyone goes about their own lives and you learn a bit about whatever matters to you - friends, family, sex, excess... but not before seeing a lot of genitalia. And that is the genius working the mind of Paul Thomas Anderson.

watched it to see mark wahlberg basically,but got an insight in to the adult industry,bit seedy, and thought parts of the film was hilarious!!but i have wierd humour.

A fascinating insight into the ups and downs of the adult film industry.

Full of many memorable characters and performances, a strong soundtrack, and a good mix of drama and black comedy.
