Plot : A lonely heist mastermind (DeNiro) is looking to quit his lifestyle of risky and violent robberies - though his exit becomes much harder with a cop who's strongly dedicated to his work (Pacino).

Story : The movie starts with a very professional style robbery headed by DeNiro , but a newcomer Waingro messes it up and shoots the innocent cops. With these murders on their record they draw the attention of Pacino who you discover is very dedicated to his job. The story is executed flawlessly , introducing small time characters as well as developing the major ones slowly. Al Pacino is a lot of fun in this movie - going insane on criminals and telling people that he's actually "Donald Duck". The whole iconic feeling of these two huge actors is easy to forget about once your sucked into their actual characters and motivations - which is just another reason for their appearance in one scene together more iconic. Visuals : This is a visually beautiful film , especially for an action film - where visuals are a high standard. The bank heist is an extremely memorable scene because of it's amazing destruction of the environment : though there was this one hilarious continuity problem where Pacino is about to shoot his rifle and then it appears somewhere else when he shoots - but that's a very minor thing.

Synopsis : A great reason for Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro to be in the same film - everything else lives up to their incredible acting : and makes for one of the best action movies of all time.

Michael Mann's 1995 urban epic 'Heat' is a modern masterpiece.

Many people would assume that a film boasting the first on-screen confrontation between cinema legends Al Pacino and Robert De Niro would be unable to live up to the hype. These people are wrong. Not only does it live up to the hype, it out-does it. Micheal Mann's direction is stunning, and the plot, while a somewhat standard cops 'n' robbers situation, manages to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. De Niro is on top-form, giving a suitably calm performance as master theif Neil. Pacino is extremely over-the-top. Many people critise his performance, but it fits with the character and is extremely entertaining to watch.

Forget The Usual Suspects, Se7en and even Casino, this is the stand-out film of 1995, and possibly the greatest film of the 1990's.

You know why you love this film? Because she's got a great a** and you've got your head all the way up it. That is one of the many great Al Pacino lines in this film that explores the lives of a officer and a robber who effect themselves and have an effect on those around them. Pacino stars as the driven cop who's job to take down his target is his number one priority that even goes over his own marriage. De Niro plays the robber who keeps everyone he doesn't know away to not show weakness but, when he doesn't it may cost him. This is one fine drama that features superb directing, acting, writing, and even music score. Heat is Mann's best film and Pacino and De Niro play great roles that you'll need to watch the film for it's great depiction.

switch off the brain and come out of the theater to click on the brain again, if I ever feel this way, that means I enjoyed the movie and it was good. Staring with my brown eyes at the screen and digesting the parboiled, pre cooked and pre served good looking dish, where ingredients are Natalie Portman, Ashley Judd, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and to season this dish all with the best seasoning available Val Kilmer. Michael Mann writes and directs the film "HEAT", he made only 1 mistake, the title should have been something other than the HEAT, but nobody is perfect so also this name is not suitable to a very well made film. The title does not attract or compels the viewers to this film. Entertaining world viewers is no small task, ask any Indian who has seen this movie, he will first smile contently and give you his observations on this great movie. The cast is the first plus of this film. Try arranging them again in any other movie. I am sure whoever from any part of this world saw this movie will have a smile to describe this movie, its tastefully stitched frame by frame, the frames are arranged with most perfect objects highlighting the actors, the camera pans, zooms, with perfect ease, the action, the blood scenes weave into domestic life seamlessly a cop has his step daughter and the present wife, a robber has his team their domestic problems and the axes they are grinding. Would you call that a cops or robbers or human drama or motion picture or entertainment recipe done by a master chef. We love to loose ourselves for a period of time once a week, actors with the caliber of Al Pacino we want to be a Cop like him, we don’t mind copying him, after all we have been copying others all our lives. I could mimicry Al Pacino without a qualm, that is how good his mastery of the art of acting is in this film. Robert De niro is the outrageous actor everybody loves watching, his screen presence is positive, he is a robber with so many problems in arranging his team, still we are with him worrying about him and his team. The biggest challenge for Val Kilmer was to make his presence felt in this film, he did so nicely he was a flag of his own under big banners around him, I first felt exceedingly this about Val Kilmer in this film. His rage, his jeans dress, his flaws and coming to terms with them, made him stand out in his role, anyone around Al Pacino, Robert De Nero, Jon Voight will fade away in unknown space but Val Kilmer stood his ground, the story was not made to highlight him, still his acting is remember able. The demands of profession, the agitation all around in domestic lives, the limits and curbs makes you feel like you are sitting on a spring and it will anytime go out of your control, the kinetic energy was well channeled in each scene of this film, there is some inert energy all around. The Music, the story, the men-women angles are presented in vibrating colours with masterful stitching, I can only compare this film with stitching and tailoring and food or dishes, its the taste you feel in your mouth that is leading you on. Look at the scene where (Lt.Vincent Hanna) Al Pacino and (Neil Maccauley) Robert De Niro meet in the diners and the dialogues that follow are a small controlled volcano, scenes like this make you want to have a dialogues with your opposing factions, when cop and robber meet to discuss what cannot be achieved by discussion in this world. We cannot be machines, killing machines or manufacturing machines, or selling machines, or talking machines, deceiving machines, we are feeling machines, we have feels no matter what we do, how much we train, how much we suffer the weather or the pits our skins become hard, still the sensations do not die out, still the feelings are always there till we die. Every frame has its artistic value in this film, the action is a art, the actings is a art the locales are a art, the situations are a art, loose yourself and enjoy the art in this film, it is full upto the brim a cold glass of tasty juice in hot desert heat. HEAT is not a good name in this film, but I know it means the pursuit of a criminal and in robbers language it means you are under the scanner of investigations. The heat is on. We cannot keep ignoring our feelings or our hearts or our sense of judgments or our eyes, we learn thru them, these 5 senses are feeding us and if we cannot rely on them, why to rely on anything else, feed yourself with your own intelligence, your eyes, your touch, your rationale, your analysis and you are truly liberated and free, second hand feeds are harmful for your digestion. Loved this movie for what it did to my 5 senses. Eyes, Smell, Touch, Ear, Taste. Yo 5 senses if they cannot complete us, it is better to be a slave then !!!

There are so many reasons why you should go out to your local video store and rent Heat, but I'll give you the fine line: see it because it is a masterpiece. Heat is an epic crime saga about two men on opposite sides of the law. One is Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro), a tight drawn and complex robber and an obsessive and intelligent cop Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino). The film tells the story of the people connected to one another and more is an intriguing character story with Neil and his crew planning their heists, Vincent trying to catch Neil, Neil, Chris (Val Kilmer) and Vincent's love lives and many other sub-stories that seemlessly blend in right into the movie. The supporting cast in tremendous with Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Dennis Haysbert, Diane Venora, Amy Brenneman, Ashley Judd, and the ever so talented William Fichtner. However, the best performances in the movie are done of course by Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. They've created their characters from words to real believable people. Both are energenic, intense, and intriguing and that's what you would expect from two of America's best actors. These guys will literally keep your eyes glued to the screen. And just seeing these guys sharing two scenes together is totally worth seeing this. The dialogue is top notch and is some of the best writing you could expect to see in a movie. Pulse pounding music gives the flim a grittier and tougher feel, which just makes this film even better. Then there is the direction. One word: exceptional. Michael Mann is an incredibly talented director and this is proof. Heat has some of the best shoot outs ever put on screen. The action is loud, bombastic, exciting and thrilling. Overall, Heat is a masterful accomplishment for Michael Mann. People say it's too long, but I don't think they can appreciate the time devoted to this story and the characters in it. In my opinion, Heat is one of the best movies ever made and it was totally robbed of all the Oscar nominations is should had gotten, but it got none, so that almost makes me hate Hollywood.
