Filming of Stab 3, the third movie based on the Woodsboro and Windsor College murders, is disturbed when cast member Cotton Weary and his girlfriend are murdered in their home. However, director Ronan refuses to cancel the movie despite a copy-cat killer who is killing the actors in the order their characters die in the movie. Woodsboro survivors, ex-cop Dewey Riley and reporter Gale Weathers, are drawn to the set to investigate and it isn't long before Sidney, who had been living in seclusion, is brought out of hiding to discover the killer's identiy. Sidney, along with help from Detective Mark Kincaid, Gale, Dewey, the cast of Stab 3 and a message from beyond the grave from Randy, tries to discover the truth about her mother's past in Hollywood before they are all killed off by the masked murderer. They are once again drawn into a game of movie mayhem. But just when they think they know how to play by the rules, they discover that all rules have been broken, and all bets are off!
